What to expect at the first session

  • The first session is for you and me to get to know each other and to sense if we will be a good ‘fit’.

  • The therapeutic relationship is key in the success of therapy, therefore it is important for you to feel comfortable in my company so you can feel free to discuss whatever is happening.

  • I will offer you a tea/coffee and we will discuss what has brought you to therapy.

  • Trust is an essential component in a successful relationship and confidentiality will be discussed before we begin.

  • You are the expert in your own life, I am here to facilitate, support and accompany you on your healing journey.

Individual Therapy

My approach to therapy is person-centred; I focus on providing a safe, empathetic, non-judgemental space where clients can openly reflect and discuss what is causing difficulty in their lives.

I provide counselling to adults (18+) in a serene, countryside setting just off the N25 (5 minutes from Midleton, 20 minutes from Cork city).

I also provide online counselling or a choice of both to accomodate your needs.

I have a special personal and professional interest in bereavement, grief and loss and have undertaken additional training in this area, and more specifically pregnancy and infant loss.

I have experience working with a wide range of issues including, but not limited to; grief, bereavement, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, pregnancy, pregnancy and infant loss, post-partum anxiety and menopausal challenges.

Couples Therapy

The aim of couples counselling is to develop an awareness of how problems are arising and how they are impacting the relationship. Awareness of the fundamental issues allows the exploration of alternative, more effective approaches.

I treat each member of the couple with respect and invite them to bring an explorative, curious, open approach to understanding their relational dynamics.

I take a neutral stance as a therapist. I am not looking for who is right or wrong or who is to blame. I am looking to uncover how each partner experiences the issues in the relationship and what each partner would like to gain from the process of couples therapy. This means understanding how the couple experience their difficulties from each of their perspectives and also how they have been trying to solve the problems.
